Sampling Strategy
| Sampling dimension | Illustrative approach |
|---|---|
| Learners | Coverage across achievement bands (pass/merit/distinction or equivalent) |
| Assessors | Include all assessors with risk‑based emphasis |
| Units/Modules | Representative spread including new/complex units |
| Timing | Early sample to detect issues + end‑of‑cohort confirmation |
Standardisation
- Review of assessment criteria, level descriptors and exemplars.
- Agreement on grading decisions and feedback language.
- Record actions, owners and deadlines in the standardisation log.
External Moderation / Verification
- Where required by the awarding body, external moderation verifies standards are met.
- Centres provide requested samples, policies and assessment evidence promptly.
- Actions from external reports are tracked to completion.
Programme‑specific requirements may apply; always check the official specification.
Assessment Boards
- Confirm results, consider extenuating circumstances, and approve awards/recommendations.
- Quorum and membership published in the programme handbook.
- Minutes are recorded and actions tracked.
Mitigating Circumstances & Extensions
- Learners should notify the centre as soon as possible where issues affect assessment.
- Evidence may be required; late submissions may be capped or refused according to policy.
- Deferrals/retakes follow awarding‑body rules and published timelines.
Framework Alignment
- Level mapping: Outcomes and assessment demand map to RQF/EQF descriptors.
- English: Assessment tasks and rubrics align to CEFR bands where applicable.
